Responsible for running a busy transfusion service which included Level 3 Trauma, labor and delivery, oncology, and a robust orthopedics department.

• Inventory Management - Maintained blood supply for Level 3 Trauma facility, with less than a one percent red cell wastage rate.

• Regulatory Compliance – Oversight and reported all mandatory transfusion statistics to the Department of Public Health, the Food and Drug Administration and the Center for Disease Control

• Inspection Preparation – An assessor for The Association for the Advancement of Blood and Biotherapies and an inspector for the College of American Pathology.

• Liaison to Medical Staff and Nursing – Organized and performed in-services regarding patient identification, emergency released products during Massive Transfusion situations, and patients with special transfusion requirements due to patient’s clinical condition.

• Quality Assurance – Maintained all records concerning quality control and preventative maintenance. 

• Competency Assessments – Responsible for ongoing competency assessments for all blood bank staff.
